Beautiful Vintage Silver Gelatin Quality

Silver Gelatin Explained

Silver gelatin printing has been the primary black and white process since the late 1880's and is the gold standard for black and white film photography.   The darkroom process utilizes special black and white film negatives with a silver halide gelatin layer.  The image is then enlarged onto a multi layer photo paper with a gelatin layer with silver halide particles suspended in it on top of a baryta fiber layer.  The effect is a one of a kind photograph with a stunning finish with beautiful depth and finish.  The silver gelatin hand finish is easily recognizable by its "gelatin" appearance and is the standard for collectable black and white photography.
